Wild Life

Miles of untouched sandy beaches abound with driftwood and occasional glass balls for the beachcomber. Beyond Yakutat's beaches lies a surfers dream. Beautiful waves just asking to be ridden.

If it's wildlife you are looking for, the Yakutat Forelands is teeming with Brown Bear, Eagles, Moose and numerous other creatures for your viewing pleasure. Don't forget your camera.

Yakutat is surrounded by the majestic Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and the immense Tongass National Forest. It’s a small town, but you can find lots to do here, everything from wilderness rafting to world-class sportfishing for steelhead, salmon and halibut. The area offers great hiking, river floats, mountain climbing, glacier viewing, beachcombing and kayaking. A short boat ride will put you face-to-face with 450-year-old glacier ice.

Yes, people surf here. In fact, National Geographic put catching a wave in Yakutat on its “Ultimate Bucket List 2013.”

Things to do

We are located in Yakutat, Alaska, a small village located on beautiful Monti Bay. The only sheltered deep water port in the gulf of Alaska. Yakutat's mainstay is fishing. The area has much more to offer the visitor than just world class Steelhead, Salmon & Halibut fishing.
